Behind the Team – Our Favourite Watering Holes

We in the events industry are such a social bunch and I’m sure most love nothing more than to end the day sipping a cocktail or two in one of the many amazing bars that make up up the social scene in our fair city, London.

The Story Team are no exception and have put together our a list of our top 10 places to enjoy an after work tipple or two:

What we think:

The lychee martinis here are the best tasting cocktails ever and when the sun is out the terraces are full of people sipping their drinks and overlooking the hustle and bustle of regent street. The tapas style food are also a perfect complement!’ – Melanie Rose

What we think:

‘As a fan of all things drama, I love the theatricality of the place, you feel you have really earned your drink after a chat with their private detectives to gain entry. Once inside it has a lovely hidden speakeasy feel that can make you forget the busy city just outside. Plus the cocktails are delicious’Clare McAndrew

The Artesan

Barrio BarsBarrio Bars

Address: Branches in Angel, Soho, Shoreditch & Brixton

What we think:

‘I went there for my birthday a year ago and it was just so much fun, you do really feel like you are in Brazil or somewhere tropical because of how colourful everything is from the design through to the cocktails! You can order the big treasure chest cocktails which are lots of fun especially for a hen do or birthday. They also have really cute little alcoves in which to sit.’ – Melanie Rose

Experimental Cocktail Club in China Town

Address:  13A Gerrard Street, London W1D 5PS

What we think:

‘It’s a hidden treasure. You wouldn’t know it was there unless you were looking for it. You walk through what looks like a battered residential front door only to find there is a gorgeous 3 floor speakeasy themed bar with elegant décor and the most extraordinary cocktails.’ – Carly Begner

 The Porcupine, Leicester Square

Address: 48 Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0BS

Forest Rooftop Bar, Selfridges

Address: Selfridges & Co, 400 Oxford Street, London, W1A 1AB

What we think:

‘I love the espresso martinis at the Forest rooftop bar at Selfridges as it’s such a great setting on top of one of London’s most iconic department stores, it’s a true winter forest wonderland and the cocktails have a shot of Amaretto in them which I think is a genius addition!’ – Sarah Kay

City of London Distillery

Address: 22-24 Bride Lane, London EC4Y 8DT

What we think:

‘It’s an underground gin bar just off Fleet Street and serves enough gins and tonics that you can have a different concoction every day of the year – for a gin lover like me, it’s heaven! The styling is wonderful too and makes you feel that you’ve stepped into a 1920’s prohibition bar.’ – Sarah Kay
